2018-2019 Lakeview Elementary School Improvement Goals/Action Plan Summary

Math

Goal:The percentage of each student enrolled October 1 in grades 3-5 at Lakeview  Elementary who are proficient on all math state accountability tests (MCA-III, MTAS) will increase from 32.0% in 2017-2018  to 42.0% in 2018-2019.

Action Plan Summary: All teachers will plan (within the MTSS model) using standards and assessments four times a year with their team before each quarter using the District YAG at full implementation. (AtL: Thinking Skills)

  • PD around standards planning and assessing

                  * Workshop week (August), District PD days (whole staff)

                  * Data dives per team every 6-8 weeks (starting end of September) and

                     so forth with progressing monitoring and new data from assessments


Action Plan Summary: All teachers will further their implementation of establishing a Positive Culture of Mathematics in our Classroom (routines and rituals). (AtL: Social, Self-Management, and Communication Skills.)

  • Non-negotiables: Calendar Math, Math/Number Talks, small group instruction, learning targets/I can statements.

  • Develop a practice profile and timeline of implementation.

  • PD opportunities (district support)

  • Include specialists for opportunities to support standards (PE, Media, Music, Spanish, EL, SPED)

Reading

Goal:  The percentage of each student enrolled October 1 in grades 3-5 at Lakeview  Elementary who are proficient on all reading state accountability tests (MCA-III, MTAS) will increase from 37.7% in 2017-2018 to 47.7%  in 2018-2019.

Directed Reading-Thinking Activity

Action Plan Summary:  All teachers will plan effective instruction (within the MTSS model) through the process of balanced literacy gradual release (modeling & observing, copying & doing, practice & refinement, independence & application).

  • Non-negotiables: Standards based mini lessons in order to develop metacognitive thinking skills (ATL: Thinking Skills).

  • Treasures is not the scope and sequence/daily plan.

  • PD opportunities (district support, Learning Leaders)

  • Include specialists for opportunities to support standards (PE, Media, Music, Spanish, EL, SPED)


Action Plan Summary:  All teachers will ensure that every child will write something personally meaningful each day.  Children will be given the opportunity to talk with peers about reading and writing. (AtL: communication skills)

Science

Goal: The percentage of each student enrolled October 1 in grade 5 at Lakeview  Elementary who are proficient on all science state accountability tests (MCA-III, MTAS) will increase from 37.1% in 2017-2018 to 47.1%  in 2018-2019.


Action Plan Summary:  All teachers will pre-assess prior knowledge of scientific concepts and vocabulary related to grade level standards.  (AtL: Communication, Research and Thinking Skills.)

Climate/Behavior

Goal: Climate goals: To have 80% or more of our student meet the ROCK matrix with proficiency (PBIS); to decrease  referrals by 50% (from 260  or 130 less) and to decreases suspensions by  50% (from 78 to 36 or less).   


Action Plan Summary: All teachers will consistently model and teach classroom/school expectations. (AtL: Social and Self Management Skills)
